As the prime contractor, KEAR is constructing a new chlorine dioxide facility for the City of Flagstaff at the Lake Mary Water Treatment Plant. The new masonry building addition will house a new chlorine dioxide system for treatment of raw water from Lake Mary. The project includes the building addition, all chlorine equipment, electrical upgrades, instrumentation and control upgrades, asphalt paving, two injection vaults, and 2000 lf of 4” HDPE pipe. The project was completed both on schedule and under the City of Flagstaff's budget.

As a subcontractor for MA Mortenson, KEAR is providing complete mechanical construction services for the 5MG reservoir and pump station in Goodyear, Arizona. This project includes the installation, startup and testing of a new vertical turbine pump station and all related suction and discharge piping. Also included in the contract is installation and startup of a chlorination facility and site storm drain work. This project was completed in early June 2008.

KEAR provided complete CM@Risk services for the construction of the new park at Tatum and Cave Creek Roads.

This project consists of the complete construction of a new park at Tatum and Cave Creek Roads in Phoenix, AZ. The main focal point of the park is two new open space turf areas (soccer fields). Supporting elements for the soccer field are also included in the new construction. This included a soccer field lighting, a paved entry, eighty-space parking lot with lighting, pedestrian walkways, landscaping, and Ramadas with associated lighting. The project also included a rest room with associated water, sewer, electrical, lighting, and water fountain.

This project consisted of the complete engineering, design, and construction of a new monorail trash raking and removal system for the Hassayampa Pumping Plant. The existing raking system was removed, and a new monorail system was designed and installed. In conjunction with CAP, KEAR coordinated the structural, mechanical and electrical design for this project, and executed the complete construction of the new monorail structural concrete caissons, foundations, structural steel, electrical, I &C, and startup/testing services.

This project consisted of miscellaneous upgrades to the existing wastewater reclamation facility in the City of Sedona. The existing aeration system was upgraded and expanded to handle increased flows, including new aeration system, FRP baffles, new mixers, and new return pumps. The existing solids handling building received a new centrifuge and related piping and controls, along with sludge grinder replacement and a new polymer feed system. KEAR installed a new reuse vertical turbine pump and related yard piping to allow for increased options for plant reuse water discharge. The plant SCADA system was also upgraded to handle all new equipment and increased plant processes.

This project consisted of the complete installation of over 13,000 linear feet of 4” and 12,000 lineal feet of 16” PVC waterline along the Central Arizona Project Canal. The water-line was constructed from the existing City of Phoenix Tramanto Pump station, extending along the CAP canal, across Happy Valley Road, and terminating at the Central Arizona Project corporate headquarters. KEAR provided complete pipeline excavation, bedding, installation, backfill and testing services resulting in a safe installation within the owner’s contract requirements.

This project consisted of the removal and disposal of two 150 Ton chillers from the roof of the SRP Information Services Building, and replacing them with two new ground-level 150 Ton Chillers. Along with the rigging and removal of the existing chillers, KEAR constructed a new cast-in-place chiller enclosure structure, chiller support foundations, chilled water piping, and all electrical and I&C systems. The chiller re-placement was completed with only a 4 hour downtime to the entire Information Services Building HVAC system.

This project consisted of 1,450 lineal feet of 20” & 36” HDPE pipe for a new reuse pump station and reservoir facility . The fusion welded HDPE pipe and fittings were installed to transport reuse water for the Springerville Generating Station and reuse ponds. KEAR’s services included excavation, backfill, pipe installation and testing. KEAR worked closely with Compass environmental and CH2MHill resulting in a safe and complete installation within the owner’s schedule requirements.

The Mulberry and Island WWTP upgrade project involved the expansion of the existing Mulberry WWTP from 1.1 mgd to 2.2 mgd, and aeration upgrades to the existing Island WWTP. To achieve the Mulberry expansion a new clarifier, aeration basin, filtration system, UV disinfection system, blowers, odor control system, and I&C/electrical systems were constructed. As the general contractor, KEAR self performed all structural concrete, process piping, equipment installation, and startup activities while coordinat-ing the subcontracted electrical, masonry and I&C. The end result was a safe and complete plant expansion within the owner’s construction schedule requirements.
Installed Systems: Fairbanks-Morse VT Pumps, Schreiber-Aeration, Schreiber Clarifier, Allen Bradley Electrical, Wonder-ware, Pratt Valves, Trojan UV Disinfection, Cutler Hammer Switchgear, Met-Pro/Duall Odor Control System.

Project consisted of removal of existing chlorine gas systems and construction of new sodium-hypochlorite injection systems at 10 remote facilities, including booster pump stations, wells, reservoirs, and PRV’s. KEAR installed 10 new chlorine containment masonry buildings, including cast–in-place concrete foundations, sumps, and roof. Multiple phases took place simultaneously at all locations.
Systems: Severn Trent Services/ Clor Tec- Sodium-Hypochlorite Generating System, Rosemount Analytical Analyzers, Square D Electrical Equipment.

Construction of a new sanitary lift station with peak flow of 6 MGD, and 12,500 LF of 14” and 18” parallel DIP force main. Work included excavation, backfill, cast-in-place concrete, pumps, odor control, piping and equipment, electrical and I&C components and facility startup.

KEAR is providing structural excavation and backfill services for the new Glendale spring training facility located at 107th Avenue and Camelback. The new facility is the future home of the Chicago White Sox and LA Dodgers, and is slated for completion in early 2009.

KEAR has been subcontracted by Smith Construction Services to provide mass grading and underground utility construction for the new Western Valley Childcare facility in Surprise, Arizona. KEAR’s subcontract consists of approximately 6 acres of grading, 3,800 lf of fireline, 1,130 lf of sewer line, and 600 lf of storm lines.

KEAR was subcontracted by CAP II to install a new gas line sleeve for southwest gas. The project consisted of 300+ lf of asphalt sawcut, removal, sleeve installation, and patch.

KEAR has been subcontracted by Norquay Construction Inc. to provide mass grading and underground utility construction for the new City of Goodyear community park. KEAR’s sub-contract consists of approximately 17 acres of grading, 2,500lf of fireline, and 3,000lf of sewer line.

For the second phase classroom expansion of the Mesquite Elementary school, KEAR provided site grading, paving and underground utility construction services. This project in-cluded 2,000lf of wet utilities, 3,900 cy of import, 4,200 cy of export, and 35,000sf of asphalt paving.

KEAR was subcontracted by Keegan Builders to provide underground utility construction for the new Copper Star Bank in Peoria, Arizona. KEAR’s subcontract consisted of the complete installation and testing of all underground wet utilities, both on and offsite.

KEAR was subcontracted by Keegan Builders to provide mass grading and underground utility construction for the new M&I Bank in Mesa, Arizona. KEAR’s subcontract consisted of the complete existing site demolition, installation and testing of all underground wet utilities, both on and offsite.

KEAR provided onsite earthwork construction services for the new Walgreens store at Union Hills and 19th Ave in North Phoenix. KEAR’s scope of work included all site demo and clearing, mass grading, pad prep, and asphalt paving.

KEAR completed the installation of a 50,000 SF parking lot for the Scottsdale Unified School District. This project included complete site construction services including clear/grub, storm-drain/retention, sub-grade prep, asphalt placement, finishes and striping.

KEAR is providing installation of a new 8" bypass at the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport Tank Farm. This project involves the substantial drain-down of the existing fuel distribution system, removal of the 4" bypass, and installation of the new 8" bypass and valve. The project was completed in late March 2008.

As a subcontractor for POND Constructors, KEAR is providing complete mechanical construction services for the 30MBL Tank construction project. This project involves the new construction of an above ground fuel storage tank and all associated piping. KEAR is subcontracted to provide, install and test all fuel, fireline, and storm-drain piping for this new tank addition. KEAR is also providing all hot-tap and live fuel line tie-in’s to make the tank active upon completion. The project was completed in February 2008.

This project involved the upgrading of the gaskets on existing 12" Isolation Valves at several locations throughout terminal 4 South. KEAR provided all drain-down, old gasket removal, and replacement of new isolation kits and bolts. All ISO Valve Vaults were thoroughly cleaned and the existing piping coating was removed and prepped for new coating application.

This project involved the drain down of approximately 20,000 gallons of Jet fuel to facilitate the removal of an existing 24" valve. The 24" valve was removed and replaced with a prefabricated and tested spool. All cathodic protection was installed and tested for conformance. This project carried significant importance as the work was completed on the main 24" receiving line form Kinder Morgan, which supplies all fuel to the AFFC tank farm at 55th Avenue.

Kear provided complete removal and capping of the existing fuel hydrant system on both the east and west sides of terminal 2 at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport. The removal of the line was necessary for the new construction of Taxiway D, which was being relocated by Kiewit Western. KEAR completed the drain-down, flushing, capping, installation of new high-point risers, inspection pits, and all concrete restoration within the tight schedule requirements set forth by Kiewit Western.

KEAR Civil Corporation provided complete installation, testing and flushing services for the installation of over 2,600 LF of 20” fuel pipeline at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. The pipeline was constructed by KEAR for Swissport Fueling, to allow for a complete fuel loop between the existing Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 gates. The project also consisted of the construction of two new isolation valve pits for the future airport expansion, and one new isolation valve pit for fuel flow control. The pipeline was constructed adjacent to active taxi-ways, under traffic control utilities and involved the jack-and-bore of the 20” pipeline under two active taxiways. KEAR successfully completed the 20” project with minimal impact to the fast track taxiway construction being performed by Kiewit Western.

KEAR has provided a wide range of fuel maintenance and repair services. From massive drain-down and line repair, to simple bolt replacement, KEAR has performed these services to complete customer satisfaction. Valve replacement, hot-taps, line stopples, stopple bypasses, tank floor repairs, tank hot-taps, excavation, grading, concrete, asphalt repair, corrosion control, investigative digs, hydrant pit installations and contaminated soil removal are a few of the fuel system services we have provided to satisfied clients.

Spectra Electrical Services subcontracted KEAR to provide primary power installation services for the new Fire Station No.2 in Paradise Valley. The project included the installation of primary power duct-bank across Lincoln Drive extending onsite to the new Fire Station building. KEAR provided all excavation, barricading, spoils removal, conduit installation, concrete, backfill, and asphalt replacement services. The project was executed with close coordination with APS and in accordance with their construction standards and requirements. The project was completed within the general contractor’s schedule requirements with minimal impact to surrounding business and residences.
