Project Details

KEAR was contracted by NAVFAC Southwest to provide complete design build services for upgrades to the existing Pump Station A42 at Naval Base Point Loma, San Diego, CA. As the design-build prime contractor, KEAR is also managing the pre-construction phase including all design and permitting activities. The project consists of replacement of the existing 1,000 GPM potable with 1,200 potable water pumps, installation of a new Jockey pump, removal and disposal of the existing pump control system and installation of new PLC's and VFD's. The project also includes the removal and disposal of the existing pump station suction and discharge piping and replacing it with new ductile Iron piping. Miscellaneous improvements that are also a part of the project include installing 6 new shutoff gate valves, new pump station interior lighting, epoxy-coating of the existing pump station floor, demolition of an existing hydro-pneumatic tank & valve-vault, and relocation of the existing 15KV transformer within pump station facility.
